1. What is your favourite food?
A traditional Sunday lunch with all the trimmings.
2. What is your favourite holiday destination?
The Cotswolds closely followed by Italy.
What was the last book you read and why?
‘Then we came to the end’ by Joshua Ferris. It was recommended in the Richard and Judy booklist, but was very hard work.
4. What is your favourite TV programme and why?
‘Only Fools and Horses’ because it epitomises British humour and the frailty of human beings.
5. What is your favourite thing about Bracknell and why?
We are blessed with lots of woods and open spaces and good people.
6. What is your favourite film and why?
Dr Zhivago. Great story, wonderful photography and impeccable acting by Omar Shariff and Julie Christie.
7. If you won the National Lottery, what would you buy?
Nothing initially, I’d have to think about it. Probably spend on the family and others before deciding what to do with the balance.
8. What was the first record you bought?
Nat King Cole – ‘When I fall in Love’
9. What is your biggest regret?
I don’t have one, if I had changed anything I would probably not have such a marvellous wife and family and that would be tragic.
10. What makes you smile and why?
My grandson when he is trying hard and concentrating on doing something he is unfamiliar with.
11. What was your first job?
A junior clerk in the General Office of the Health Department in the Glamorgan County Council.
12. What was your first pet and its name?
Judy, a stray dog that adopted me in Cyprus when I was serving there fifty years ago.
