Latest News! Winning Images from the Local Parks Photo Competition Are Announced!
Inspiring and diverse entries flooded in following the Council's Parks & Countryside Service's request for the residents of Bracknell Forest to send in photos of their local green spaces with the natural world at the heart of each image.

These winning photos are on display in Bracknell Library throughout June and will be joining the runner-up entries at an extended exhibition, on show at South Hill Park from 29 November 2008 until 25 January 2009.
Parks and Countryside
The Parks and Countryside section manages more than 80 parks and countryside sites across the Borough, together with 26 children's play areas and nearly 50 miles of public rights of way. These are all managed for informal recreation, landscape and nature conservation.
The section is home to the rangers, who help to manage the sites and organise a full calendar of events to bring local people closer to their environment. A successful Heritage Lottery Fund bid funds the restoration of Lily Hill Park, Bracknell, a nineteenth century Landscape Park, overseen by a dedicated Project Officer.
The Borough's rich cultural heritage is preserved through the Heritage Strategy and Heritage Online project, as well as the joint funding of the Berkshire Records Office.
Bracknell Forest's diverse countryside is home to a great variety of plants and animals. We aim to promote the preservation and enjoyment of this natural heritage through schemes such as the Bracknell Forest Biodiversity Action Plan.
A Local Countryside Access Forum advises the section on securing more and better access to the countryside for recreation.
Free information leaflets covering parks, countryside sites, outdoor activities, events, wildlife and heritage are available from the Council and can be ordered online.
