Benefits - Verification Framework Visiting Programme
The Verification Framework Visiting Programme is a voluntary scheme which sets regulations and minimum standards for local authorities that adopt the scheme. It moves the emphasis away from the detection of fraud and error to the prevention of it.
The scheme requires local authorities to set maximum benefit periods for claims, depending on the ‘risk category’ of the claimant. Also, every person claiming Housing and/or Council Tax Benefit will be visited in their own homes at regular intervals in order to verify details of their benefit claims.
The visits will identify any changes of circumstances that may affect a claim, and will include confirmation of:
- Capital
- Household members
- Housing costs
- Identity
- Income
- Residency
Additional funds are available from The Department of Work and Pensions to local authorities who adopt the scheme.
Bracknell Forest Council is a Verification Framework compliant authority.
