Disabled People - Parking Permits - Blue Badge

Disability logo

The Blue Badge scheme provides a national arrangement of parking concessions for people with disabilities who travel either as drivers or passengers.

The scheme applies to:

  • People with severe walking difficulties

  • People with very severe upper limb disabilities who regularly drive a vehicle but cannot turn a steering wheel by hand

  • Registered blind people

  • People who receive a mobility allowance or higher rate of the mobility component of the Disability Living Allowance

It allows badge holders to park close to their destinations and in designated disabled parking bays. The Council provides a number of disabled badge holder parking bays within the Town Centre.

If you wish to apply for a new Blue Badge or renew an existing one, please fill out our Blue Badge Scheme Contact Form. Please note that this is an online form so you won't need to print anything off.

For more information about the Blue Badge scheme, please visit the Directgov or Department of Transport websites.
