Bracknell Forest LSCB – ‘Safeguarding Children Together’

The Berkshire Child Protection Procedures are intended to be used by professionals and volunteers working with children, young people and their families in Berkshire.

If you have any concern that a child/young person may be at risk of harm or neglect, please contact the Duty Team in Children’s Social Care straightaway. They will advise you on an appropriate course of action.

Safeguarding children is everyone’s responsibility. If you have a concern about a child or young person seek advice on what to do next; do not assume that someone else has already raised a concern.

The Child Protection Procedures explain what to do if you are worried that a child/young person may be at risk of harm or neglect, what our responsibilities are, what to look out for and provides specific advice for certain situations.

Child Deaths

The death of a child is a tragic event that affects some of our families in Bracknell Forest every year. The Partners involved in Bracknell Forest’s Local Safeguarding Children’s Board are committed to working together to support families at this difficult time.

From 1st April 2008 Local Safeguarding Children’s Boards (LSCBs) have responsibility for keeping an overview of all child deaths. In Berkshire all six LSCBs will support one Child Death Overview Panel, which will monitor all child deaths.

If a child dies unexpectedly a group of key professionals will come together, in a Rapid Response, to work together to support the family, and to establish the circumstances /cause of the child’s death. Further information on this process is currently being developed and will be added to this webpage as it becomes available.
