Private Fostering
Private fostering occurs when:
- A parent makes a private arrangement to have their child cared for by someone else
- The child or young person is aged up to 16 (or 18 in the case of a child who is disabled)
- The person who will care for them is NOT a parent, grandparent, brother, sister, aunt and uncle (whether of the full blood or half blood or by affinity), and step-parent or an approved foster carer
- The arrangement lasts for 28 consecutive days or more
- The arrangment does not involve us as the fostering agency or any another organisation
If this situation applies to your family or someone you know, please contact us using the details on the right to request additional information.
