Annual Performance Assessment
In 2005 the first annual performance assessment was undertaken in children’s services authorities by the Commission for Social Care Inspection [CSCI] and the Office for the Standards in Education [Ofsted]. This is part of the new inspection regime for children’s services and consists of a number of components; one is the completion and return of data to enable Inspectors to judge the performance in Bracknell Forest in relation to national targets and indicators.
Secondly there is a self assessment where we were asked to assess progress in Bracknell Forest by agencies in achieving the five outcomes for children and young people. Thirdly the inspectors look at a range of additional evidence and spend a day in the local authority meeting and talking to people about the evidence. They are able to ask questions and fill in any gaps in information. The inspectors then make a judgement about the local authority and its delivery of services.
