Where are we located?

The Register Office is based in the Council's main offices in Easthampstead House, in the town centre. You can view a map showing our location. Our nearest car park is Car Park 2 (Charles Square), although there is a short stay car park opposite the office if your visit is likely to be a quick one. Parking for disabled visitors is available in the Council car park.

Bracknell Register Office is based in the Borough Council's Easthampstead House offices in the town centre, just off the Inner Ring Road.

Both rail and bus stations are within walking distance of the office, and a taxi rank can be found directly outside our front door.

The nearest car parks for the office are Car Park 2 (Charles Square) and the short stay car park near the Old Manor.

What facilities do we offer?

Public pay phones, an unsupervised children's play area, intranet service and cashiers office can all be found within Easthampstead House. Toilet facilities, including a disabled toilet and baby changing facilities are available on the lower ground floor. A drinking water station is available within the Register Office. All areas are accessible to wheelchairs and prams.

A full range of council publications is available in the reception area on the Ground Floor.

What services do we provide?

We are responsible for providing a service for the public to carry out their legal duties to register all births, deaths and still births within the Borough of Bracknell Forest.

We are responsible for taking notice of marriages and civil partnerships which will take place between people living in the Borough of Bracknell Forest. The marriage or civil partnership could take place in Bracknell Register Office, any other register office in England or Wales, marriages churches other than the Church of England, or any other country or place allowed by law.

We are responsible for performing and registering all civil (non-religious) marriages and civil partnerships taking place in the Borough of Bracknell Forest. We can also be responsible for registering marriages other than the Church of England.

We hold records of births, deaths marriages and civil partnerships which took place in Bracknell Forest from 1837. We can provide certified copies of these records if you pay the legal fee. A certified copy is not a photocopy, and can be used for various legal purposes.

We also provide advice and help on re-registering births and correcting the legal records which may have to be processed through the General Register Office.

Our service standards - what we aim to provide

  1. All incoming phone calls will be answered within five rings. We will be pleasant and efficient . We have an answerphone outside office hours, if you leave a message we willreturn your call the next working day.
  2. A member of staff will greet everyone coming to the office.
  3. If you apply by post, or in person, for a certified copy of a record, we aim to return the certificate within 2 working days. If we cannot trace the record from the information you have given us, we will write or telephone to tell you within 2 working days.
  4. Please remember that to register a birth or death, a qualified informant must be present. The registration is a confidential personal interview which can take up to 40 minutes. If you are not sure if you a legally entitled to register, please phone this office.
  5. You can make your ceremony more personal by adding words or poetry. We will try to accommodate any other requests to make your day more memorable. You can choose music for your ceremony, on compact disc. Our aim is to make sure that your day is enjoyable and we will do everything we can to provide a friendly and welcoming atmosphere. Please be aware the law prevents us from including any religious content in a civil ceremony.

How can you obtain a copy certificate?

The district was formerly known as Easthampstead or Bracknell. It includes Sandhurst and North Ascot and up to 1998 included Sunningdale and South Ascot. You may apply to this office, in person or in writing, for copies of certificates for any births, deaths, marriages or civil partnerships recorded in our registers.

Births and Deaths
All births and deaths that occurred in Bracknell Forest since 1837 and any births and deaths which took place in South Ascot/Sunningdale/Sunninghill, including Heatherwood Hospital, from 1st April 1934 to 31st March 1998. For births and deaths in South Ascot, Sunningdale, or Sunninghill since 1st April 1998 apply to Maidenhead Register Office.

Marriages
All marriages held in the Register Office in Bracknell between 1837 and 1937.

All marriages held in the Register Office in Bracknell since 1st April 1967.

All marriages held in approved premises in the Bracknell Forest district since 1995.

All marriages held in churches (of any denomination) in the Bracknell Forest district since 1837. The district includes the parishes of:Binfield, Bracknell, Cranbourne, Crowthorne, Easthampstead, Owlsmoor,

Warfield, Winkfield. It also includes the Military Chapel at RMA Sandhurst.

Most churches have their own registers and these are only deposited at the Register Office when they are completed (this may take several years). When we do not hold the register, application should be made to the vicar or Authorised Person for the church concerned.

Civil Partnerships
All civil partnerships registered in the Bracknell Forest district since December 2005.

Certificates are available at a cost of £7.00 each for marriage, death and full birth certificates, or £5.50 for a short birth certificate. Cheques or postal orders should be made payable to Bracknell Forest Borough with a cheque guarantee card number on the reverse of cheques. Please also add that an SAE is required for certificate applications.

We cannot provide certificates for events in other districts

Applications received will be dealt with in strict rotation, but we endeavour to return the certificate to you within 2 working days, either by post or collection from the office.
