Local Countryside Access Forum (LCAF)

Group members

Update! The Local Access Forum is currently recruiting additional members.

Introduction

Bracknell Forest Council, as the Borough Highway Authority, has a duty, under the Countryside and Rights of Way Act 2000, to establish a Local Access Forum (LAF). The LAF is an advisory group to the Council on securing more and better access to the countryside for open-air recreation within the Borough of Bracknell Forest and is governed by the Local Access Forums (England) Regulations 2002.

Terms of Reference

The role, responsibilities and procedures for the forum are outlined in the terms of reference, which are available to download to the right of this page.

Membership

The forum meets formally twice a year and comprises up to 22 members, including two Councillors, who are predominantly landowners and committed users of public rights of way.

The forum also carry out informal site visits throughout the year to keep all members informed about access routes affected, by capital works and ROWIP (Rights of Way Improvement Plan) projects

Who can apply to be a member of the Bracknell Forest LAF?

The Council is looking for people who are passionate about the countryside, promoting access for all and can contribute positively to the work of the LAF

LCAF members with awardNo formal qualifications are needed to become a member, but interested people will ideally have a broad range of knowledge, interest and experience relevant to countryside access. Landowners, countryside users and other interested parties (such as those interested in tourism, nature conservation, heritage, business, health, transport, disability or youth issues) are all welcome.

To find out more about membership or to apply for a place on the forum, please contact Sally Coulson, Projects Officer using the details to the right of this page.
