Arts and Entertainment
From professional and commercial arts to the voluntary arts sector, there is something for everyone. Drama, dance, cinema, music, arts and crafts – it's all here and this helps to make Bracknell Forest an attractive and distinctive place to live, work and visit. The arts can be about having fun, being challenged or experiencing something new.
Community Arts Development
Community Arts Development is about working in partnership with communities, artists and other agencies to support quality arts events and projects and infrastructure at a local level. Advice and information is also provided to support independent projects and ideas.
The Borough is home to a wide range of individual artists and small voluntary arts groups who organise a variety of projects, classes and performances using local venues and South Hill Park.
The Council's projects have included Northern Parishes Arts Week, Black History Month Celebrations, Rotations (dance and disability), Off Beat (youth arts) and public art projects.
Existing programmes include:
Dance: Ongoing commitment to dance development in the Borough such as Dancewise and United! Lift Off and a Dance and Older Persons Project in partnership with From Here to Maturity. Find out more about dance.
Public Art: The Borough has a wealth of public art, from the William Mitchell mural in the Town Centre to Andrew Sabin’s Calibrated Ramp on the former Churchill House site. With new housing and commercial developments arising, the Borough will experience an increase in new commissions. Find out more about Public Art.
Creative Network: For artists and arts companies either living or working in Bracknell - support, advice and information about creative arts enterprise. Includes meetings held at South Hill Park Arts Centre and other venues. Find out more about the Find out more about the Creative Network.
South Hill Park: The Council provides substantial support to this Arts Centre; a venue of regional significance and an artistic hub, which provides a range of exciting arts events and education workshops, attracting thousands of people every year. Find out more about South Hill Park.
