Nutritional Standards

  • All school meals meet new legislative food based standards for school lunches applicable from September 2006. See New School Lunch Standards for further information.
  • Our school meals also meet the current Caroline Walker Trust Guidelines which encourage the use of wholemeal bread, pasta and fresh fruit and discourage fat, salt and sugar
  • Menus are drafted by the catering contractor’s nutritionist and approved by the Bracknell Forest Primary Care Trust Dietician who ensures that menus meet the National Nutritional Standards for Primary and Secondary schools set by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) A copy of the National Nutritional Standards can be found at www.dfes.gov.uk/schoollunches
  • Schools are able to make some like for like changes to the final menu to suit their local needs
  • Schools now have the option to further enhance their menu to achieve the 'Food for Life' standard - for more details see www.soilassociation.org/foodforlife
