School Meals - Frequently Asked Questions

I would like more information on school meals - who should I contact?

First point of contact should be the Headteacher at your child's school. They may then refer you to the cook or the catering contractor.

My child requires a special diet - is that possible?

Yes, if notified in advance, cooks are able to cater for special diets such as gluten-free, non-milk, diabetic, coeliac, nut free. The contractor must provide a “no-meat/no fish” meal choice as a vegetarian option every day.

How do I know what is on the menu in my child's school?

Parents of primary-aged children are supplied with a copy of the menu each term.

Do school meals in Bracknell Forest meet nutritional guidelines?

Yes, see our Nutritional Standards page for further information.

What is the Free Fruit and Vegetable Scheme?

This is a Government initiative aimed at younger children. For further information about this scheme please contact your child’s school.  Further information can also be found on the NHS website.
