Children's Information Centre

Children's Information Centre Logo

The Children's Information Centre is part of our Early Years Childcare and Development Plan. It is a free information service for parents, carers and employers. It is a one-stop-shop for guidance on all child related issues and acts in a sign-posting capacity when necessary.

It feeds childcare information to the Children's Information Systems Development Project (CISDP) database which is downloaded by the Department for Children, Schools and Families (DCSF) onto a national web site www.childcarelink.gov.uk. The database is updated daily and information is fed to the CIC by childcare providers within the Bracknell Forest Area. Some childminders have elected to be excluded from the website so the Childcarelink site is not a comprehensive list.

Full details of childminders and Parent and Toddler groups are available from Children's Information Centre who have links with other members of the Early Years Partnership including Health, Education and Social Services. Information includes:-

  • Childminders - Comprehensive vacancy lists with full details, including before and after school care and unsocial hours.
  • Pre-school, Parent and Toddler Groups - Groups by area giving details of time, venue and cost.
  • Private Day Nurseries - Information on full and part time care at nurseries, ages accepted and costs.
  • Maintained Nurseries
  • Independent Nurseries
  • Breakfast, After School & Holiday Play Clubs - Details of existing clubs in your area.
  • Education - Lists of primary and secondary schools, and full details of Early Years education for 3 and 4 years olds. Information on educating at home and private school lists.
  • Leisure - Swimming classes, soft play, dance, music, sport, library storytime, martial arts, tumble-tots .... something for every child.
  • Special Needs - Support groups and services, for children aged up to 16 years.
  • Services and Support - Local support group contacts, for example, Gingerbread, National Childbirth Trust, Home-Start and more.

Other information includes special needs, services and support and they carry out 'surgeries' and stage displays in Bracknell venues and public places.

Ofsted uses the Children's Information Services to pass information about new childcare and closures. Children's Information Centre will be the most reliable source of up to date information on childcare. Enquiries for Bracknell Forest Children's Information Centre have increased over 100% year upon year.
