Trading Standards

The aim of Trading Standards is to maintain a fair and safe living and trading environment for consumers and businesses.

Consumer advice and information in Bracknell Forest, is now provided by Consumer Direct South East region. Consumer Direct is a telephone and online consumer advice service, which is supported by local authorities in the South East region, and by the Department of Trade and Industry.

We ensure that businesses comply with legislation through inspection visits and the advice we provide; working together to guide them on how to ensure they comply with the law.  We investigate criminal law complaints; and conduct surveys and projects to focus on particular issues of concern.

Our website provides up-to-date guidance for consumers and traders on their rights and the main areas of consumer legislation. It is also regularly updated with safety alerts that are issued for food and other goods.
