Work is continuing to complete the new structure and pedestrians will be transferred onto the new bridge during the week ending 30 May.
Demolition of the existing concrete footbridge will commence on the weekend of 31 May – 1 June.

Should high winds or other unfavourable weather delay the works, demolition will take place the following weekend of 7 - 8 June.

Demolition of the existing bridge approach ramps and the two end spans to the bridge was successfully carried out on 5 March.
February 2008
Construction of the pile cap foundations to the new bridge piers has been continuing since the end of January. Early demolition of the existing bridge approach ramps and the two end spans to the bridge is planned for early March. This work will allow construction of the bridge abutments and new approach ramps to follow on.
January 2008
Piling has been going well on site since the New Year and should be completed by the start of February.
In order to protect pedestrians using the existing bridge, temporary ramps have been erected. These ramps will ensure that the bridge can remain open whilst construction activities continue close to the ends of the bridge.
December 2007
A test pile was installed at the site; this will be tested at the start of January with piling following on from this. The site will shut down over Christmas and works will recommence on 7 January.
November 2007
Work is due to commence on site with site set up and vegetation clearance. Bat surveys have been carried out to identify potential for bats and hence felling of several trees in the path of the new bridge will be carried out in the presence of a licensed bat worker to ensure any bats that may be found will be protected and roosts relocated.
