Streetcare
The Streetcare Division is responsible for managing all the Council’s activities, and those of other organisations, on the highway (road) network within the Borough. There are three major groups within the Division:
The Asset Management Group
This is concerned primarily with management, maintenance and improvement of all the Borough’s roads, bridges, traffic signs, signals and streetlights. It also includes street cleansing and cutting the highway verges.
The Transportation Group
This works to improve road safety for all users through local improvement schemes designed to improve road layouts and control inappropriate traffic speeds. It works with the community to develop initiatives such as the ‘Safe Routes to School’ project and monitors new development proposals to minimise the impact of new traffic on our roads.
The Waste Management Group
This deals with waste collection, recycling and waste disposal. The team manages 36 recycling banks across the Borough and the Civic Amenity Site at Longshot Lane.
