Public Weighbridge Operators Certificate

Anyone who carries out public weighings for a charge must hold a certificate from a Chief Inspector of Weights and Measures, showing that they have sufficient knowledge for the proper performance of the duties involved. Applicants for a certificate are tested and are required to demonstrate that they can operate the weighbridge satisfactorily before a certificate is issued.

If you, or your employees, wish to obtain a certificate you will need to arrange an appointment with a trading standards representative. Use our online form to notify us that you wish to arrange a competency test. The form is on the right of this page and will take about 5 minutes to complete. You can monitor your progress using the progress bar at the bottom of the screen.
