Landscape Services

Watering plants in the town centreThe Environment, Culture and Communities Department of the Council is responsible for maintaining a large number of horticultural features across the Borough. Many of these are in parks and open spaces and are managed by the Landscape Services Team.

Landscape Services aims to achieve the highest standards of horticultural excellence and, in doing so, has won numerous awards in the regional Thames & Chilterns “In Bloom” competition. We also won a silver award in the national Britain in Bloom competition in 2004 and currently hold three Green Flag awards for the quality of our parks.

The Landscape Services staff pride themselves on delivering a high standard of horticultural maintenance. These mobile teams regularly visit sites to maintain the defined standards set for our borough's landscape.

We ensure that these quality standards are met across a very wide range of horticultural features such as: -

  • Public Grass Areas
  • Shrub Borders
  • Hedges
  • Trees and Woodland Areas
  • Seasonal Bedding Borders
  • Floral Displays (hanging baskets, towers, trough, cubes)
  • Wildlife / Nature Reserves
  • Playgrounds
  • Outdoor Sports Facilities
  • School Grounds
  • Cemeteries and the Crematorium

The cleanliness, appearance and health & safety of these sites are achieved through regular inspection by our highly-skilled staff and our commitment to maintaining a quality environment for all.
